Voter Qualifications

A citizen of the United States;
18 years of age or over; and
A resident of Nevada for thirty (30) days preceding any election;
If you will be 18 years old or will have met the residency requirement at the time of the election, you are also eligible to register to vote.
Must not have been declared by a court to be mentally incompetent;
Felons must have their civil rights restored; and
Registered to vote

REGISTRATION

With County Clerk or Registrar's Office, up to 21 days before the election.
By mail, must be postmarked 31 days prior to election.
At Department of Motor Vehicles, up to 31 days before an election.

RE-REGISTRATION
Re-registration is required if the voter changes his/her:

Physical address;
Name; or
Party Affiliation.

SHOWING IDENTIFICATION WHEN REGISTERING

It is recommended that voters show identification when they register or else they must show identification at the polls.
Identification must show proof of residence and proof of identity, a picture is needed.
Examples of recommended identification are drivers' license, military id, or any government issued id.
If the current photo identification does not include the voter's current address, a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows voter's name and residence address is required.

Voting Information

IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED WHEN VOTING

Identification is necessary at the polls if you have not shown your id when you registered. This is only required the first time you vote.
Identification must show proof of residence and proof of identity, a picture is needed.

WHERE TO VOTE
Sample ballots are mailed to all registered voters. The sample ballot includes sites where early voting will be held and where one's polling place is on election day. County Clerks/Registrars of Voters also have this information and can verify voter registration if the voter does not receive a sample ballot.
ABSENTEE VOTING
An absentee ballot may be obtained from the County Clerk/Registrar of Voters in the county in which the voter resides. Please contact their office for details. Uniformed service members or US citizens outside the country should download, fill out and submit the Federal Post Card Application.
EARLY VOTING
Early voting is easy in Nevada, and is available to every voter. Voters can vote at any location in their respective county where early voting is offered. Early voting offers the following benefits:

Makes voting more accessible to more citizens;
Increases voter participation rates;
Allows more accurate and efficient ballot counts;
Reduces administrative costs to the taxpayer; and
Creates a more informed and thoughtful electorate.

PROVISIONAL BALLOTING
Eligible for verification if cast in the correct precinct.
